Vita

A sound of touching clarity, refined musicianship and compelling expression - with these qualities young tenor Christoph Eder is captivating his audiences. In demand as a passionate soloist in oratorio and concert alike Eder is complementing his activities as a soloist by singing in internationally renowned ensembles and choirs. Solo highlights of the current season include the Debut at the Berliner Cathedral (with Bach’s Cantata BWV 92 under the direction of Domkantor Adrian Büttemeier) and a performance of Händel’s Messiah at the Kammermusiksaal of the Berliner Philharmonie (with renowned baroque orchestra L’arpa festante under the direction of Nicolas Fink, chief conductor of the WDR radio choir). The upbeat to the season was marked by Eder’s participation in the first German production of Kaija Saariaho’s last opera „Innocence“ at the Musiktheater im Revier (Gelsenkirchen), in which Eder is participating as a member of CHORWERK RUHR. Other ensemble highlights include performances with LauschWerk vocal ensemble at the Elbphilharmonie under the direction of Kent Nagano, with CHORWERK RUHR under the direction of Florian Helgath and with vocal ensemble SCHOLA HEIDELBERG.

As a studied musicologist Eder started his professional singing career in his mid twenties. He laid the foundations of his vocal education under the tutelage of Snežana Brzaković and Prof. Jörn Dopfer (HfMT Hamburg) and is completing it with Florian Sievers (HfMT Leipzig) as of summer 2024. During several masterclasses he received impulses by artists such as Patrick Grahl and Daniel Heide (Sommerakademie Schloss Hundisburg 2024), Lionel Meunier (Atelier at Musikfest Bremen 2024) as well as Hans-Christoph Rademann and Scott Weir (Bachwoche Stuttgart 2022 & 23). His participation in Balthasar-Neumann-Chor’s academy program and in the Schola hosted by Rundfunkchor Berlin (both in 2022) intensified his enthusiasm for professional ensemble singing and Eder now sings with renowned ensembles such as Rundfunkchor Berlin, CHORWERK RUHR, Vocalconsort Berlin, Zürcher Singakademie, SCHOLA HEIDELBERG and LauschWerk on a regular basis. In the process he has worked with conductors like Kent Nagano, Kirill Petrenko, Thomas Hengelbrock and Christoph Eschenbach and performed on numerous stages of international recognition such as Berliner Philharmonie, Elbphilharmonie, Bavarian State Opera and Komische Oper Berlin. Eder is also working as a freelance writer with Elbphilharmonie and Konzerthaus Berlin among others.
